After many years of participating in this wonderful breed I have decided to share my joy and passion of Golden Retrievers and my photography.
My involvement with Golden Retrievers began in 1980 when the first golden girl "Sawni" entered my home. She was a learning tool for me on how to raise and train a puppy to become a true family member. I had very little help from the breeder so yes, I made my mistakes along the way with house breaking, chewing, and of course digging, but in the end I was hooked on this lovely energetic breed.
I began showing in obedience and conformation in 1981 and have completed many Companion Dog titles over the years on several of my golden's but my real love is in
the conformation ring.
My first litter of puppies was born in 1982 and from that litter came the first Calico Golden Retrievers. My first home bred champion was in 1992 when CH. CALICO'S BIG MAC OF McGOLD known as "Mac" finished his title with his novice/co-owner Vicki McGwire on the end of the lead. In 1993 "Mac's" litter sister CH. CALICO'S DIZZY MIZZ LIZZY known as "Lizzy" finished her championship completely owner/ breeder handled and in great style by winning winners bitch at the Western Regional.
I have worked for the past 18 years at Community Veterinary Hospital, Inc. where I manage the Animal Friends Pet Hotel in Garden Grove, Ca.
I am a amateur pet photographer at work, and love photographing my own dogs and puppies as well. Working in the animal industry has enabled me to continue my showing and breeding program with the great support from the people I work with and for.
I am currently teaching obedience classes at Animal Friends Pet Hotel and looking
forward to helping pets come into the home and out of the backyards and shelters.
